$5 Afro Dance Workshop w/ SayRah | Afro Quarantine Fest

  • New York United States (map)

Afro Dance Workshops for the culture. Many styles. One Africa.

Apr 11, 2020 | 5:00 PM PST | 8:00 PM EST

In this workshop you will shake, sweat, learn some Afrobeat-specific dance moves, and get the historical context from SayRah’s perspective.

AFROBEAT was born of Activism & Social Justice. In this day and age we still need such activism in our various ART forms! SayRah, a Yoruba Nigerian native, and dynamic dance professional has created this special dance workshop to share a part of her cultural heritage. Afrobeat is a music/dance and cultural phenomenon that has major global influence decades after it was ushered in by the Late great Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Afrobeat is fresh, and relevant. Afrobeat is dance. Afrobeat is music. Afrobeat is a way of life. Afrobeat is the mother of AfroBEATS.

Whether you are versed in traditional West African (Guinea, Mali, Senegalese, Ghanaian) or Congolese, Or Afro Cuban, Afro Brazilian, Afro Haitian has your heart; Maybe you’re a street and club dance head, Hip hop, Breaking, Dancehall, Soca, or House; Or a ballroom aficionado, Salsa, Kizomba, Urban Kiz, You name it!!

You can get down with this. You have something to get you have something to give.
